Topic: Welcome

Dear 506th Member,
Welcome to D-Day, the largest paintball game in the world. You have been assigned to the 506th PIR within the 101st Airborne Division. The 506th prides itself on being the one of the hardest hitting and fastest moving units on the field. In order to make your D-Day experience the best that it can be, we have drafted this letter to let you know what you can expect during the week and on game day.

As a whole, the 506th is a very fast moving, hard hitting unit despite its relatively small size. Its style of play is to advance under the cover of fire and take objectives quickly. The 506th is often called upon in situations where larger units fail. The 506th is broken down into 2 companies, Easy and Fox. You may recognize Easy Company as the unit featured in the recent TV hit series Band of Brothers. Each company is commanded by a Captain and two Lieutenants. You and your group, if you have one, will be assigned to one of the two companies. Both companies are identical in most every way.

Much like the Airborne in WWII, the 506th will be dropped in behind enemy lines and will fight its way to its objectives without reinforcements or supplies. For this reason, the 506th has special gear requests to keep you in the game longer. We strongly recommend that each trooper have a paintball vest in order to carry all their gear and make the game more enjoyable. On this vest each player should have a 2 to 3-Liter Camelbak, 1000 rounds of paintballs, enough air to shoot all their paint, snacks, a barrel squeegee, extra batteries, and any spare parts or tools you may need to fix your gun. In addition, most of the officers will carry a radio with a headset. This piece of gear is not essential, but if you would like to carry one please contact us before you purchase so we can advise you on the recommend frequency and model.

When you plan your travel to D-Day, remember that it will be better to arrive earlier rather than later. Although you are not required to be at the D-Day site till Friday, most everyone in the 506th will arrive earlier in the week such as Monday or Tuesday. This provides several advantages. First of all, it allows you to set up your camp and get used to the hot weather and camping. Secondly, the 506th will play in many of the mini-games that are scheduled throughout the week. Playing in these games with the 506th will allow you to become acquainted with the field and your teammates. It is also a great way to make more of your vacation and registration fee, since all the mini-games are covered by your registration fee.

Finally, I would like to say that this is a vacation for us too. We want you to have a great time and enjoy the game. If there is anything that we can do to make your game experience better, please let us know. You may contact any of the following officers: Eddie Ford, thumperford@gmail.com; Beau West, zareba@gmail.com; Scott Sheppard, Scott_Sheppard@sbcglobal.net; or the officer group at contact@506.okdday.com.

Best Wishes,
Scott Sheppard
